§ 61. Mr. Hugh Jenkinsasked the President of the Board of Trade if he will give an assurance that Concorde will not be allowed to fly until the Olympus 593 engine has received a certificate that it complies with noise standards laid down by him.
§ Mr. J. P. W. MallalieuI do not envisage that the initial aircraft noise certification scheme could be applied to aircraft such as the Concorde which are already in an advanced stage of development. Operators wishing to use any new type of jet aircraft at Heathrow are, however, required to satisfy the Board of Trade that it can be operated so as to cause the least disturbance practicable. This procedure will apply to the Concorde.
