Mr. Whitaker

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what steps he is taking to improve assistance for management training and education in developing countries.

Mr. Prentice

As a result of discussions with the Council for Technical Education and Training for Overseas Countries, I have set up a small Working Party to examine the Ministry of Overseas Development's programme in this field. Its terms of reference will beto consider the future aims, objectives and methods of the Ministry of Overseas Development's programme for management development and education in the developing countries".

Sir Joseph Hunt, Chairman of the Management Training and Development Committee of the Central Training Council, has agreed to act as Chairman of the Working Party. The other members will be Professor Norman Hunt, Professor of Organisation of Industry and Commerce at the University of Edinburgh and Mr. A. G. Hurrell of the Ministry of Overseas Development.

The Working Party, which will start work in April, is anxious to consult a wide selection of those interested in management education in the developing countries. Among other things it will also consider the policies of international agencies and other donor countries in this field.
