Mr Frank Allaunasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will state the number of cases determined by rent officers from January, 1966 to the most recent date available, showing in what proportion rents have been increased, decreased or left unaltered, as compared with the original rent.
§ Mr. MacCollFrom January, 1966 up to 1st March, 1968, 64,981 applications for the registration of fair rents had been determined by rent officers in England and Wales. The previous rent was increased in about 51 per cent. of these cases, decreased in about 32 per cent. and left unaltered in about 17 per cent. The proportion of cases where the previous rent was left unaltered includes registrations based on certificates of fair rent.
