§ Mr. William Edwardsasked the Minister of Social Security whether she will consider a scheme of payment of compensation for industrial injury to slate-quarry workers on the basis of reduced lung function assessed annually by lung function tests.
§ Mr. LoughlinThe only chest conditions, as such, for which compensation may be paid under the Industrial Injuries Act are those arising from industrial diseases satisfying the conditions of Section 56 of the Act. For those diseases which have been prescribed under these provisions lung function tests form an essential part in the diagnosis and in the assessment of the extent of disability.
