§ Mr. Blakerasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) whether he will instruct the Central Statistical Office to produce the monthly moving average of invisible transactions, taking into account the latest quarterly figures, so that any monthly reference to invisibles will be brought closer to recent experience;
(2) if he will instruct the Central Statistical Office to undertake a specific inquiry into the feasibility of producing monthly assessments of invisible earnings and payments;
(3) what instructions he has given to Government Departments about improving the quarterly estimates of invisible earnings and payments.
§ Mr. Harold LeverAn inquiry into the state of information on invisible transactions has taken place and has concluded, first, that it is not practicable, at least in the near future, to produce monthly figures and, secondly, that priority should be given to improving the quarterly estimates. To this end Departments are in touch with the industries concerned.
