HC Deb 04 March 1968 vol 760 cc43-4W
Mr. William Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Wales whether he will consult with the Welsh Tourist Board and the Postmaster-General to consider the feasibility of using sub-post offices in Wales as tourist information centres, capable of booking visitors into farm houses and guest houses off the main tourist routes.

Mr. Cledwyn Hughes

I understand that proposals of this nature are being investigated by the Wales Tourist Board which is anxious to develop in consultation with the appropriate authorities the net-work of tourist information centres beyond the forty already in existence. New centres were opened at Caernarvon on 28th February and at Cardiff on 29th February. The publication of the Official Accommodation Guide to Wales brings nearer the plan to provide a room reservation service at some of these centres.
