HC Deb 04 March 1968 vol 760 c7W
72. Mir. Spriggs

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works if he is aware that the costs of commercial building sand and ashes have increased by 82 per cent. and 9 per cent., respectively, as from 1st January, 1968; what estimate he has made of the effects of these increases on building prices generally; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Mellish

No. Sand and gravel are not subject to the Early Warning arrangements. There is however a system of price review, operated in conjunction with the Sand and Gravel Association. This has not so far disclosed any general price movement over the country as a whole, although there have been some local increases, particularly in the North-West.

Questions on colliery tip waste ("ash") should be addressed to my right hon. Friend the Minister of Power.
