HC Deb 04 March 1968 vol 760 cc45-6W
Mr. William Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will specify the road improvement programmes which are going to be undertaken in relation to the investiture of the Prince of Wales; and if he will give details of the cost.

Mr. Cledwyn Hughes

Because of the heavy road traffic expected during the period of the Investiture it has been decided to bring forward certain road improvements that would not otherwise have been done until later. These include improvements to the B.4409 /B.4366 road from Llandegai and the provision of two new short lengths of road needed to deal with congestion within Caernarvon. The total cost of the work brought forward, of a small expenditure on improving facilities for crossing the River Seiont and the road on the west of the river, and of improving the Class III road from Griffiths Crossing, will be approximately £330,000. About two-thirds of this will fall on the Exchequer, and a third on the County Council.
