§ Mr. MellishMy Ministry took a lease of the upper floors of Parliament Square8W House in 1938, and renewed it for 21 years from 1959. It is not our practice to disclose rent or other terms of particular leases.
§ Mr. Websterasked the Minister of Public Building and Works (1) what offices the Ministry of Transport uses in Parliament Street;
(2) whether he is satisfied that the accommodation at Parliament Square House complies with the Shops, Offices and Railway Premises Act; and if he will make a statement;
(3) what was the cost of purchase of Parliament Square House by his Department;
(4) what is the cost of the lease and the term of the lease of Parliament Square House.
§ Mr. MellishThe Ministry of Transport occupy about 7,000 square feet on the 3rd to 6th floors of Parliament Square House. These floors, together with the 1st and 2nd, are held by my Ministry on lease for 21 years from 1959. It is not our practice to publish the rent paid for particular hirings. I am advised that the building complies with the requirements of the Offices, Shops and Railways Premises Act, 1963.
