Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Minister of Social Security whether she is aware that British workers receive much less in social security, pension and sickness benefits than workers in the Common Market countries; and if, as a means of facilitating Great Britain's entry into the Common Market she will take steps to increase social security benefits to British workers to the level enjoyed by workers in the Common Market countries.
§ Mr. LoughlinIf the level of our social security benefits has any bearing on our entry into the European Economic Community, we can discuss this during negotiations with the Six.
