HC Deb 04 March 1968 vol 760 c42W
Mr. Cordle

asked the Minister of Transport what net increase in the number of civil servants in her Department was estimated for 1968–69 before Her Majesty's Government decided to stop any further net increases in the total number of civil servants; and what saving in money terms the freeze on additional recruitment in her Department this represents for the same period.

Mrs. Castle

No firm estimates had been agreed for my Department before the decision to stop any further net increase in the total number of civil servants.
