§ Mr. Ridleyasked the President of the Board of Trade, by what statutory authority he refuses to pay investment grants upon the construction of privately-owned power stations in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. DellPower stations as such are not eligible for investment grants under the Industrial Development Act. Machinery or plant for such stations is eligible. Each application is considered on its merits. If we were to refuse, it would be in the exercise of the discretion given by the Act and in the light of the implications for the statutory bodies responsible for the generation and distribution of electricity.
