HC Deb 25 June 1968 vol 767 cc64-5W
Mr. John Smith

asked the Postmaster-General what was the cost and purpose of the half page advertisement he inserted in The Times newspaper on Thursday, 13th June; what other similar advertisements were or will be inserted in other newspapers; and at what total cost.

Mr. Mason

The advertisement is one of several designed to show more clearly to our customers the part which the postal service plays in their life. These advertisements are preliminary to publicity that will be needed later this year when we introduce fundamental changes designed to modernise the service. The cost ofThe Times advertisement was £765. Advertisements of a similar character have appeared or will be appearing in The Guardian, the Financial Times and in national colour supplements. The cost of these newspaper advertisements will be about £40,000 and there will be television advertising later.
