§ Mr. Buchananasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will, before making the Teachers Superannuation (Scotland) Regulations 1968 to replace the 1957 regulations, take account of representations made by teachers on the draft 1968 regulations and insert a regulation corresponding to Regulation 38 of 1957, to ensure that Scottish teachers over 70 years of age, or with more than 45 years of superannuable service, do not continue to hold promoted posts to the detriment of the promotion prospects of younger teachers.
§ Mr. RossMy Department will shortly be discussing these representations with the teachers' associations concerned. I would ask my hon. Friend to await the outcome of these discussions.
