§ Mr. Frank Allaunasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he is satisfied that the proposals in the White Paper, "Old Houses for New Homes", which rely mainly upon volnuntary consultation and persuasion, will produce the required result; what consideration he has given to the experience of local authorities who have found such procedures time consuming and slow in producing results; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MacCollSuccess in implementing these proposals will depend greatly on the skill and determination of local authorities and their officers, and I am glad to say that local authorities generally have given the proposals a warm welcome. The proposals were included in a White Paper in order to provoke discussion, and my right hon. Friend would welcome suggestions which would result in more improvement being done.
