§ Sir D. Rentonasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many places were available in primary and secondary schools, respectively, in 111W England and Wales on the last date for which figures are available; and how many more places need to be provided in order to prevent overcrowding.
§ Mr. Edward ShortI do not collect statistics of the number of places available in schools. Local overcrowding is often due to the difficulty of providing additional accommodation exactly where it is needed quickly enough to deal with rapid population growth and movement.
