§ Q13. Mr. Tilneyasked the Prime Minister if, in view of the protracted difficulties being experienced by the parties to the Nigerian civil war peace talks, he will now approach other interested Governments with a view to 27W imposing a ban on the export of arms to both sides.
§ The Prime MinisterAs my right hon. Friend the Commonwealth Secretary made clear in the House on 21st May, Her Majesty's Government would be very ready to co-operate in a general standstill on further supplies if this were agreed by the two sides in Nigeria. But without such agreement I have no reason to believe that action on our part alone would be effective or help to clear away the difficulties which have arisen in negotiations between the two sides.
