§ Mr. RossOn 1st July, 1968, 129 non-industrial staff were engaged on marine research at the Marine Laboratory of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland. In addition there were 20 Marine Officers on five research vessels. The numbers in each main scientific grade are as follows:
