§ Mr. Lomasasked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity if she will make a practice of reporting to the House or issuing an appropriate statement when an industrial dispute, such as that involving provincial busmen, reaches deadlock, setting out what the Government require in increased productivity before the wage application can be allowed under the criteria laid down by the Prices and Incomes Act.
§ Mr. HattersleyThe general requirements of the criteria are fully set out in the White Paper "Productivity, Prices and Incomes Policy in 1968 and 1969", and have been amplified both generally, and in relation to particular issues, in the reports of the N.B.P.I. I do not think the procedure suggested by my hon. Friend would generally be practicable.
