Mr. Ormeasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer to what extent in current and future negotiations on the Special Drawing Rights Scheme of the International Monetary Fund it is Her Majesty's Government's policy to negotiate for a higher share of the special drawing rights to go to the less developed countries.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsI sympathise with my hon. Friend's objective, but I see little hope of any progress in this direction in the near future. The benefits derived from the S.D.R. scheme by the less developed countries will of course not be confined to allocations of S.D.R.s made directly to them.
