§ Mr. Bruce-Gardyneasked the Prime Minister what has been the change in the number of Ministers of State between September, 1964 and the latest available date; and if he will estimate the consequential change in the aggregate cost of their salaries to public funds on the basis of salaries at 1968 levels.
§ The Prime MinisterThere were 16 Ministers of State holding appointment in September, 1964 compared with 21 at the present time. On the basis of salaries at 1968 levels, the estimated comparative salary costs are, in aggregate, £105,750 and £127,000 respectively.
