§ Sir C. Osborneasked the President of the Board of Trade what reply he gave to the official Libyan Trade delegation's representations to him, that the price of British goods had been reduced by no more than 7 per cent. since the November devaluation of sterling; and what action he proposes to take regarding their consequential refusal to buy British goods, despite the fact that imports of Libyan oil on which a 15 per cent. increase has had to be paid since devaluation has given Libya a substantial credit balance of payments.
§ Mr. William RodgersMy noble Friend the Minister of State, who received the delegation, made it clear that he did not accept this suggestion and explained in detail his reasons for saying so. I know of no consequential refusal by the delegation to buy British goods.
