§ Mr. McGuireasked the Minister of Power whether he has considered the conclusions of the survey, "Britain's Economic Prospects", published by the American Brookings Institution, details of which have been sent to him by the hon. Member for Ince, that coal output should be cut back more slowly than is planned and that the investment programme for electricity, especially nuclear generation, should be substantially reduced; and if he will amend his fuel policy in this way.
§ Mr. MasonThe report by the Brookings Institution is being studied as part of the continuing review of fuel policy by my Department which takes into account all relevant work both inside and outside the Government. However as the report says (footnote 15) the section on energy was written before the publication of the White Paper on Fuel Policy (Cmnd. 3438).
