Child Allowances (Tax Relief)

Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the amount of relief given in respect of child allowances against Income Tax and Surtax in the years 1965–66, 1966–67 and 1967–68.

The estimates are as follows:

• £500 million for 1965–66
• £580 million for 1966–67 and
• £630 million for 1967–68.
