Mr. Geoffrey Wilsonasked the Minister of Transport whether he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT a list setting out the dates and amounts of increases in standard railway fares from 2nd February, 1965, until the latest available date.
§ Mr. MarshThere have been no increases in standard railway passenger fares since 1st February, 1965. In their Report No. 72 of 30th May, 1968, which the Government have accepted, the National Board for Prices and Incomes recommended that British Railways should increase their revenue not through general increases in standard fares, but through greater differentiation of fares by route and by class.
