Osborneasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer in view of the fact that the United Kingdom's balance of payments deficit in the six months to March, 1968 was running at the rate of £1,352 million compared with £776 million in 1964, what further measures he now plans to take to reduce personal consumption in order to limit expenditure on imports and to safeguard sterling.
