§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsA considerable programme of research on rheumatic and related diseases is being undertaken with support from Government funds in Medical Research Council establishments, university departments and a number of National Health Service hospitals and rheumatism centres. Since this work covers a very wide field, and includes much fundamental biological research, it is not possible to provide an estimate of expenditure.
