89. Mr. Luard

asked the President of the Board of Trade how many investigations have been made by the Monopolies Commission during the past 15 years; and in what proportion of cases monopoly conditions have been found to exist.

Since 1st January, 1953, the Monopolies Commission has investigated the existence of monopoly conditions in relation to 25 categories of goods or services. The conditions, as defined by the legislation, were found to exist in 23 of these.
