§ 24. Mr. Silvesterasked the President of the Board of Trade what progress is being made by the Advisory Council of the Export Credits Guarantee Department in its review of the facilities for external trade in the light of the recommendations of the Committee on Invisible Exports; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Kenneth Bakerasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will instruct the Export Credits Guarantee Department to give greater assistance to those United Kingdom firms which contribute to Great Britain's invisible earnings by handling trade that originates outside the United Kingdom and is destined for third countries.
§ Mr. CroslandThe Council have completed their review and I have received their advice. The review shows that the cover on external trade has been running at a loss. I have decided that no improvement could at present be justified, and I have so informed the Committee on Invisible Exports.
