HC Deb 10 July 1968 vol 768 c79W
Mr. Wingfield Digby

asked the President of the Board of Trade what proportion of the £646 million of imports in April he attributes to increased consumer spending.

Mr. Crosland

The effect of changes in consumer spending on imports for a particular month is not precisely calculable. But consumer spending fell sharply in April and imports of consumer goods also fell.
