§ Mrs. HartThe total administrative cost to the National Insurance Fund of collecting and recording national insurance contribution in 1966–67, the latest year for which figures are available, was about £17 million, of which about £7 million related to graduated contributions. The total administrative cost of assessing, awarding and paying retirement pensions was nearly £13 million, of which only a small fraction would have related to graduated pensions.
