§ Mr. Lomasasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, in view of the hardship caused to those people designated as disabled by a local authority and issued with a disabled driver's certificate to fix to a vehicle because they are denied any relief in the cost of a road fund licence, if he will take steps to provide exemption or a lower rate for such persons.
§ Mr. Harold LeverRelief from Vehicle Excise Duty is already given to disabled people who qualify for help with the provision of transport under the National Health Service. I regret that the disabled driver certificate issued by local authorities would not be a suitable basis for Vehicle Excise Duty relief.
