§ Mr. Edward ShortOn 2nd November last my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Economic Affairs and my predecessor, acting jointly, instructed the National Board for Prices and Incomes to keep under continuous review the remuneration of the academic staff of universities in Great Britain. It is for the Board to report from time to time as it thinks fit. I understand that the Association of University Teachers has submitted memoranda on salaries to the Board. It is not the function of my Department to discuss salary claims with the Association.
