§ Mr. Elystan Morganasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will request the Welsh Economic Council to make a study of areas, outside the special development areas, which are unable, owing to economic and geographic factors, to attract a sufficiency of new industry, with a view to devising new forms of assistance for those areas.
§ Mr. Cledwyn HughesThe Welsh Economic Council has already expressed its views to the Government on the problems of the predominantly rural areas of the Principality. These views have been and will be taken into account in the formulation of Government policy. It is my hope that the new Welsh Council will regard a further study of some of these areas as one of its early responsibilities.
