§ Mr. Eadieasked the Minister of Power if he will list the areas of the British coalfield where miners over 55 years of age have been refused further employment by the National Coal Board as a consequence of a colliery closure; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. FreesonPit closures have taken place in all coalfields except Kent. Most of the men made redundant recently, and to whom the Board have been unable to offer redeployment, have been over 55. The Board will continue to offer opportunities for transfer to other pits as far as possible, taking into consideration all factors including age and skills.
