§ 22 and 23. Mr. David Priceasked the Minister of Technology (1) what discussions have been held with the Atomic Energy Authority about the proposed reduction in the nuclear research and development programme of the authority;
(2) what savings will be obtained as a result of the proposed reduction in the nuclear research and development programme of the Atomic Energy Authority.
§ Mr. StonehouseDiscussions have been held with the A.E.A. about the savings which could be made in expenditure 209W on the Authority's research and development programme as part of the recent review of public expenditure in 1968–69 and 1969–70. It has been agreed that reductions will be made amounting to over £3½ million in 1968–69 and £6 million in 1969–70. The effect of these reductions is now being studied in detail by the Authority.
