§ Mr. James Davidsonasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he is prepared to review the case of Alan Last, now serving in H.M.S. "Defender", who, having been refused discharge, has once attempted to take his own life.
§ Mr. FoleyAble Seaman Last has recently been examined by a specialist in neuro-psychiatry. It was on the basis of this report that we decided not to allow him a premature discharge.
He is now en route with his ship to the Far East.
On arrival there his Commanding Officer will be sending me a report on this rating. After I have studied this I will write to the hon. Member.
