§ Mr. Harold LeverThe increase of 54,000 (not 57,000) staff in the non-industrial civil service between 1st October, 1964 and 1st October, 1967 was made up of 24,000 permanent and 30,000 temporary staff. At the latter date there were 333,600 permanent and 136,100 temporary staff in post.
