§ Mr. Evelyn Kingasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many civil servants are employed in the collection of Selective Employment Tax and in making the repayments to those entitled to repayment; and what, in the current year, is estimated to be the cost of the administration and the amount received by Her Majesty's Treasury.
§ Mr. Diamond:About 800. The cost of administration in 1967–68 is estimated to be about £2 million and the net yield about £190 million, i.e. after payment of refunds and premiums.
