§ Mr. Rossiasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what is the incidence of under-occupation of local authority housing, expressed both numerically and as a percentage of the total stock of local authority dwellings.
§ Mr. MacColl:There is no recognised standard measure of under-occupation. The 1961 Census and the housing survey undertaken by the Ministry in 1964 (Housing Survey in England and Wales, 1964, H.M.S.O.) showed however, that many more owner-occupiers or tenants of unfurnished privately rented accommodation had a relatively low ratio of persons to rooms than local authority tenants.
