§ Mr. Leadbitterasked the Minister of Technology what discussion he has had since the publication of Fuel Policy, Command Paper No. 3438, particularly relating to the spur expected to result from the expansion of nuclear power to the wide range of engineering industries involved in research development and construction of nuclear plant and equipment for the home and export market; and what estimates he has made of the effects on these industries should the expansion be deferred or modified.
§ Mr. Benn:My Department is discussing with the manufacturing industry, the A.E.A. and with other Government Departments the implications for industry of the second nuclear power programme and of any deferments in power station ordering that may result from the latest assessment of electricity demand.
