HC Deb 27 February 1968 vol 759 cc335-6W
Mr. Hooson

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what arrangements are made in his Department for passing on quickly to practising teachers discoveries by research teams of current trends in educational and sociological fields.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

There are no formal arrangements, but the results of research are employed by Her Majesty's Inspectors in preparing material for in-service training courses for teachers and in their contacts with the schools, and information based on research is included in the Department's publications.

The National Foundation for Educational Research, which receives grants from local education authorities and the Department, regularly issues a news letter, pamphlets and other documents, whose main purpose is to communicate research results to teachers.
