§ Mr. Roy Hughesasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will seek to amend the law with regard to summons for jury service so that no person summoned for jury service shall be liable to punishment unless a notice by registered post shall have been delivered to that person.
§ Mr. TaverneSuch an amendment was not recommended by the Departmental Committee on Jury Service. But there will be opportunity, when it is possible to introduce legislation to amend the law in the light of the Committee's recommendations, to consider whether any changes are desirable in the procedure for despatching jury summonses.
