HC Deb 26 February 1968 vol 759 cc222-3W
34. Mr. Wall

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will make a further statement on Anglo-Spanish talks about Gibraltar.

45. Mr. Colin Jackson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what is the current situation with regard to Anglo-Spanish talks on Gibraltar.

Mr. William Rodgers

The Spanish Government have now replied to our Note of 19th February. We are carefully considering the implications of their reply, although it seems to raise difficulties over the idea of an open agenda so far as discussions on Gibraltar are concerned.

65. Mr. George Jeger

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what agreement has been reached with the United Slates Government on the continued use by the United States Sixth Fleet of the harbour facilities at Gibraltar, in view of the representations of the Spanish Government.

Mr. William Rodgers

As my hon. Friend the:Minister of State at the Commonwealth Office told the House on 31st January, we welcome the use of Gibraltar by our North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies. No special agreement is necessary for continued use by vessels of the United States Sixth Fleet.—[Vol. 757, c. 1521.]
