HC Deb 26 February 1968 vol 759 cc224-5W
39 and 40. Mr. Tilney

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (1) what schemes for training in the sale of British goods and stimulation of British commercial influence he has for those about to be posted to or at British embassies overseas;

(2) what instructions are given to British ambassadors and their staffs to foster the sale of British goods.

Mr. William Rodgers

Before taking up their appointments overseas, officers new to commercial work undergo an intensive training course designed to guide them in the problems facing exporters, the assistance which it will be their task to provide and the techniques which they will have to use in providing such assistance. All members of the Diplomatic Service, of whatever rank, are instructed that export promotion is a top priority task, in which each must play a full part.
