§ Mr. Edward Lyonsasked the Attorney-General what estimate he has made of the savings or loss to the legal aid fund from the transfer of divorce jurisdiction to the county court on the basis that county court charges are increased by 55 per cent. as recommended by the National Board for Prices and Incomes.
§ The Attorney-GeneralThe Report of the National Board for Prices and Incomes is under consideration by my noble Friend the Lord Chancellor and by the Law Society. No estimate of its effect on the cost of legally aided undefended divorces is at present available. As the Board pointed out, it would be for the Rule Committee to consider how to adjust individual fees so as to achieve the result they recommended. The cost to the legal aid fund would depend upon those adjustments.
