HC Deb 26 February 1968 vol 759 cc231-2W
62. Sir J. Rodgers

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs when he intends to introduce the legislation which will be necessary before distribution of the Baltic balances begins.

Mr. William Rodgers

Shortly, I hope.

63. Sir J. Rodgers

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if, under the Order dealing with the Baltic balances, those persons who were in possession of factories and business premises in the areas affected will be eligible for compensation.

Mr. William Rodgers

As I said in reply to the hon. Member for Brighton, Pavilion (Sir W. Teeling) on 22nd January, it is the Government's intention that the persons elegible to apply for compensation should include those whose claims were registered under the Foreign Compensation (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) Registration Order, 1959. The claims registrable under the Order included claims by British subjects for property lost in the Baltic States and ceded territories.—[Vol. 757, c.7 and 8.]
