§ Mr. Silvesterasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the number of local education authorities which have adopted a system of secondary reorganisation involving a transfer at the age of 13 years; and approximately what proportion of the secondary school children controlled by these authorities is involved.
§ Miss Alice Bacon:My right hon. Friend has approved in principle 25 schemes which include arrangements for transfer at 13 from lower to upper tier 201W secondary schools, and he has one other under consideration. I have no estimate available of the proportion of pupils involved.
