§ Mr. Blenkinsopasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will make a statement about the future use of the Burndept factory in South Shields under its new ownership; and, in particular, whether he proposes to maintain the present employment in research and development work and export business.
§ Mrs. Gwyneth DunwoodyI understand that in the time so far available it has not been possible for the new ownership to reach firm conclusions about the future level of employment and production in this factory. The company's statement on 13th February, however, did indicate that they intended to develop and extend Vidor-Burndept's interests as manufacturers of dry batteries and battery making equipment.
