92. Earl of Dalkeithasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimate he has made of the amount of capital required for investment in the fixed equipment of farms in Scotland over the next 10 years so as to bring it up to the standard necessary to ensure maximum economic production.
§ Mr. RossI have not made any such estimate. Various capital grants are available under Government schemes, and it is up to farmers to decide for themselves the scale of investment to be undertaken having regard to the available assistance and to other relevant factors.
